October 7, 2023 marks one of the darkest days of the twenty-first century and will forever remain a stain on the face of history. On that day, before the eyes of the world, hundreds of Israeli children, young people, women and men were massacred in a terrorist assault simply because they were Jewish.
The Kurdistan National Congress honours the memory of the victims of that terrorist attack and expresses its sympathy and solidarity with their families, the Jewish people and the State of Israel.
Although October 7 began with a catastrophe of this kind, it also marked the beginning of changes in the Middle East so profound and far-reaching that the region may soon become unrecognisable. It opened a new chapter in the pursuit of security, peace, stability, development and the sovereignty of nations.
At a time of transformation, those who stand on the side of light, strength and freedom will remain secure. The side of light stands against occupation, genocide, terrorism, Turkish and Iranian imperial ambitions, and the region’s anti-Jewish and anti-Kurdish nationalisms. That is why Zionism and Kurdistanism are more than two ideas of national liberation for the Jewish and Kurdish peoples: they are ideas of light confronting a deep and historic darkness in the region.
The future of the Middle East must be one in which the Kurdish and Jewish peoples can live securely as two independent, sovereign nations, allowing peace, stability, security and development to take root across the region. Such a future unquestionably depends on stronger, better organised relations, cooperation and alliances between these two peoples. Otherwise, the dark shadow of genocide, mass murder and annihilation will continue to hang over both nations.
For light, freedom and a bright future
Long live Kurdistan
Long live Israel
Long live the friendship and solidarity between Kurdistan and Israel
