The Kurdistan National Congress (KNC) extends its warmest congratulations to the Kurdish scholar and historian Abdulraqib Yousif on his selection as the third recipient of the Jemal Nebez Award for 2026.
According to the announcement by the Jemal Nebez Foundation, this award is presented in recognition of Abdulraqib Yousif's scholarly contributions to the study of Kurdish history, culture and national heritage, as well as the preservation of Kurdistan's historical sites.
The Kurdistan National Congress expresses its appreciation for scholarly efforts that contribute to understanding the past, explaining the causes and consequences of historical events, and strengthening the Kurdish nation's understanding of its position and future.
The Congress also extends its thanks and appreciation to the Jemal Nebez Foundation and the Award Commission for their continued recognition of those who have contributed to scholarship and for keeping alive the legacy of Dr. Jemal Nebez.
This occasion holds particular significance for the Kurdistan National Congress, as Dr. Jemal Nebez, a thinker devoted to the idea of Kurdistan's independence, founded the Kurdistan National Congress in 1985 together with his colleagues and like-minded associates. His memory and legacy remain connected, for us, to the objective of national sovereignty and the establishment of an independent State of Kurdistan.
